Preface
The Nether Survival server is not meant for easy casual play. The server is nether-only and relatively unforgiving. We suggest playing this server if you are a veteran player who is looking for a challenge or comfortable losing your items every once in a while.
This is an Economy Survival style server. This means that there is a limited server economy which is intended to be supplemented by a player-driver economy. An example of this would be a higher ranked player opening a farm to lower ranking players who sell the harvest to the higher ranked player. This benefits both players when the purchase price is below the server purchase price (so the higher ranked player makes a profit) and above the price or rank that the lower ranking players could achieve.

You will begin as the Lost Soul rank. We suggest first voting for the server on all vote sites to acquire Vote Crate keys which you can use at the Vote Crate located at the back of the building pictured above. These free rewards will boost your starting position on the server.
New members are likely unable to leave spawn without the /ns wilderness command. This command currently costs $1,000 (in-game currency) and will randomly teleport the player within a 500 block radius. Since the starting balance is $0, you will need to teleport to a friend or start gathering sellable materials.
Mines & Farms
Before setting off to build your own empire, we suggest heading to the Stem Farms to acquire starting materials for tools. The Stem Farms are directly northwest of the /spawn location.
Tip: Use the /trigger ch_toggle command to toggle the HUD which shows your current coordinates and which cardinal direction you are facing!
After you have crafted a wooden pickaxe, head to the Netherrack Mine to get some starting currency. The Netherrack Mine is directly below the /spawn location. You can mine netherrack, gold, quartz, and basalt at this mine which can be sold in the Headquarters building pictured above. Each rank has access to higher level farms which are more profitable than the last. See the Ranks section of this guide for more information.
Custom Recipes
Nether Survival almost completely limits resources to those that can be obtained in a vanilla nether world. Given this restriction, it is important to note that all stone tools can be crafted with blackstone and all iron tools can be created using quartz instead of iron ingots. The recipe shapes are exactly the same as all tool recipes. Additionally, quartz blocks can be used to craft special iron armor with Fire Protection I in the regular crafting table.
Tip: Craft this special Fire Protection I armor as soon as possible!
Server Shops
The shops pictured below are open to all players. All other shops are restricted to specific ranks.
Tip: The higher rank and VIP/+ shops are designed to help you make more money than the standard shops!
Ranks
There are 9 ranks in Nether Survival and the starting rank is Lost Soul. As you earn in-game currency, you can use the /ns rankup command to rank up. Each rank has access to different commands, farms, and mines. As you rank up, you will still be able to access all of the same commands, farms, and mines as any lower rank (this is consistent with all other F2PMC server ranks).
Tip: The rank board shown above contains all of the new permissions that are unlocked with each rank.
Claims
In order to create your base in Nether Survival, you must first travel outside of spawn. You can use the /ns wilderness command to randomly teleport to a new location. The current command will always cost $1000 per successful teleport and always search in a 500 block radius of where you ran the command. Future updates will include a GUI with more teleport options.
One you have selected a location for your base, use //wand to receive a region claim wand. Select your region by left clicking a block with the wand and then right clicking another block with the wand. This sets Position 1 and Position 2. Use the /rg claim <name> command to create and name the region contained between your two selected positions. Please see our region guide here (guide not yet created) for more information on setting up region flags, parents, and permissions.
Tip: Use the /wesv toggle command to turn on or off region selection visualizations!
